Today Was Better Than Yesterday. And That’s Enough.

When Yesterday Was a Wash

Yesterday was… a wash.

I skipped Pilates (never a good omen), spent hours trapped in health insurance call hell (pro tip: never submit your info on a lead gen form), and topped it off by awkwardly dropping my work laptop at the office I no longer work at.

I spiraled a bit. Okay, a lot.

Curled up in bed, I escaped into a new murder series on Paramount and a Candy Crush marathon. I managed to throw together dinner, but then it was straight back to my crime-crush cocoon. And no, not even homicide and sugar could silence the noise in my brain.

A Different Kind of Morning

This morning? Still funky. But I dragged myself to Yoga Joint anyway. I didn’t want to go. I really didn’t. But once I got there, I felt… lighter. Better.

Even though I knew what was waiting at home: health insurance vultures and the haunting reminder that I should be working on my resume.

Today, I said: fuck it.

Choosing Peace Over Productivity

Instead of forcing myself into hustle mode, I tossed in a load of laundry and built a little backyard oasis.

Pool dip. A fruit, yogurt, and honey bowl. And the long-awaited arrival of my Love Island water bottle (Team Amaya Papaya forever).

I cracked open Freida McFadden’s The Tenant. Ironically, it opens with a laid-off marketer. Too soon, Freida. Too soon.

Still, I love her books.

I slathered on Saltair glitter SPF, dabbed on Skinsations to fight Florida mosquitos, shot some hoops in the pool (still undefeated in HORSE, sorry babe), and sat down to write.

Not a resume. Not a LinkedIn post. Just this.

Permission to Pause

I’m not calling it procrastination. I’m calling it what I need right now.

Quiet. Sunshine. Writing, even if it’s only for me.

And maybe someday, another woman in the middle of a messy transition will find this post and know it’s okay to not hustle every minute. To pause. To float. To just be.

I’ll get to the job search eventually. But today, I chose peace.

(Tomorrow, maybe I’ll dream of a manicure. And some sleep. And Botox. In that order.)
