Mondays Don’t Always Have to Suck
It’s officially been two months since I was laid off, and while I could sit here and stew in self-pity, I’ve decided Mondays are my new Fridays. Weird? Maybe. But hear me out.
Mondays have become my little reset button, time to reflect on the week behind me and set the tone for what’s ahead. Cooking, gardening, organizing, making silly videos, submitting resumes, I’ve made a point to carve out time for me. Yes, the anxiety of “what’s next?” is real, but so is the excitement.
Deep down, I know I have the knowledge, creativity, and passion to bring to the right role. It’s just a matter of timing, when it clicks, it’ll click.
Finding Purpose in Small Wins
Last week, I joined Kofi’s Day of Service, a charity event that reminded me of the power of community. Packing lunches, writing cards, and making bags for the unhoused, it felt incredible to unplug from the chaos and focus on helping others.
That inspiration even carried over into this week, I’ve lined up some volunteer work that I can’t wait to dive into. Small wins matter, and they’re adding up.
Building a Space for Creativity
Over the weekend, I tackled my son’s old room (with his blessing!) and started transforming it into my own creative studio. A place to write, work, and dust off my long-neglected art supplies.
This transition season could take time, but I’m confident that through inspiration and creativity, I’ll find my path forward. Sometimes you’ve gotta build the space for your next chapter, literally.
Redefining What Defines Me
It’s easy to get caught up in the news cycle, or the weight of unemployment, but I refuse to let either define me. I don’t have a map for this journey, but I do have momentum.
I’m choosing to follow the wind, to chase inspiration, and to remind myself that Mondays don’t have to suck, they can be the start of something new. xoMS
